My name is Jacob Hershey and I own a 1997 Chevy Cavalier. First let me start off with a little background about me and my car. I have owned my cavalier for over 4 years now. I purchased the car for $500. It was a salvage title and did not run. I bought it along with another cavalier for parts. My car was hit real hard in the front, and the other cavalier had a good front end on it, so we basically swapped front ends because the cars were the same color and year. Once my dad and I had gotten it back to factory condition and gotten my title back, I started the modification process.
I started out with the simple mods such as pedals, shift knob, and audio system. From there, we started the more major mods such as shaving the moldings/emblems/antennae/trunk lock, bolting on a body kit, repairing dents, lowering with coilovers, rims, and paint. The car had gone from a factory GM red, to a custom mixed PPG Red Tint Metallic, mixed and sprayed by my dad. My dad is a bodyman, and he did the majority of the body and paint work, but I was right alongside with him learning so I can do everything myself on my next car. Everything was done by my dad and I except for the mobile video, done by a local audio shop, and the upholstery, done by a local upholsterer, and fiberglass work, done by Ryan Nearhood of Hoodrich Customs. We took the car from a $500 piece of junk, to an award winning show car.
